Sidana System, Inc. Announces Docsan(TM) 3.0, With Unprecedented Search Performance for Large-Scale Electronic Publishing

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (May 8, 1998). Sidana Systems, Inc. (SSI) today announced the immediate availability of Docsan(TM) 3.0, a major release of its flagship electronic publishing product. Docsan is a Web-based document publishing system. It includes a powerful search engine with an innovative architecture that merges the Web and CDs into a comprehensive publishing platform. The Docsan end-user component is supported on any Java-enabled browser, such as Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Internet Explorer or Netscape (NASDAQ:NSCP) Communicator, and on many platforms, including HP-UX, Windows 95, Windows NT, and AIX. It began quantity shipments at the end of April.

"This release represents a major milestone for SSI. Large-scale publishers, like those who have embraced Docsan in the past, will find the new power of Docsan particularly appealing," said SSI President Ashmeet Sidana. "For example, when tested, Docsan 3.0 returned search results from a collection of 1.8 million documents in less than one second on an ordinary PC. SSI also announced a complete rewrite of the publisher component of the Docsan 3.0 system. A Windows 95/NT application, Docsan Publisher is a graphical tool for efficiently collecting, organizing, customizing, indexing, and publishing large document collections on CD or as websites, which can then be browsed and searched by the Docsan 3.0 end-user component. It supports publication of any file type, with full-text and content-specific indexing of HTML, XML, and SGML.
