Doclinx
launches Terabyte-capable, Java-based XML Search Server
Doclinx,
Inc. launches TeraXML Enterprise Search 5.0, a pure-Java, terabyte-capable,
high-speed contextual XML and full-text search server for massive
data sets. TeraXML supports HTML, PDF and 200 document types, foreign
languages like Arabic, Japanese and Korean, parametric searching,
keyword highlighting, document level security and the ability to
aggregate content from disparate data sources.
Chantilly,
VA - March 18, 2002 - Doclinx, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise
XML and full-text search technology to government agencies and Fortune
500 companies, today announced the release of TeraXML Enterprise
Search 5.0, a terabyte-capable, high-speed XML and full-text search
server.
TeraXML
allows organizations to deploy large-scale applications and portals
that require XML and full-text search over massive, multi-terabyte
data sets.
TeraXML
provides many advanced features such as foreign language indexing,
integrated parametric searching, contextual XML search, keyword
highlighting, document-level security and authentication, web crawling
and the ability to aggregate content from disparate data sources
such as Lotus Notes, e-mail servers, databases, file systems and
the web.
TeraXML's
architecture is based on the open XML and J2EE standards, which
allows organizations to minimize integration costs and also provides
a standard framework for extensibility and customization. TeraXML
is available on the Windows NT/2000/XP, Solaris and Linux platforms.
TeraXML
can handle many character encodings which enables it to index and
search documents in foreign languages such as Arabic, Japanese,
Korean and many others.
TeraXML
is designed to handle terabyte-sized data sets containing billions
of documents and trillions of words. Its 64-bit architecture allows
TeraXML to eliminate limits on document and index sizes, enabling
it to index and optimize massive data sets faster than any search
engine available. Parallel indexing yields indexing speeds of 10
gigabytes per hour. TeraXML's minimal disk I/O ensures rapid retrieval
from even the largest data sets. In one test, TeraXML consistently
returned search results from a one-terabyte data set in less than
10 milliseconds.
TeraXML
achieves virtually unlimited scalability using multiple, load-balanced
TeraXML search servers to handle large user loads and clustered
TeraXML parallel indexing servers to handle massive data sets. TeraXML
indexes do not exhibit "index bloat" and are typically
20% to 70% smaller than the input XML.
TeraXML's
flexible security model supports document-level security allowing
the system administrator to control user access to indexed documents.
Search results are filtered so users see only documents to which
they have been granted access. TeraXML works with security policies
defined through Microsoft Windows, popular knowledge management
and database products like Lotus Notes and Oracle or LDAP servers.
TeraXML's
powerful query language provides advanced features, including Boolean
operators, fuzzy search, wildcards, proximity search, and stemming.
XML contextual searches use established industry standards XPath
and XQuery.
Another
key TeraXML advantage is its "parametric search" capability.
"Parametric search" allows the user to find more relevant
documents by combining the flexibility of full-text search with
the increased accuracy of fielded queries.
"The
projected growth of corporate information and the use of XML mandates
a technology that can scale to Terabytes of information and thousands
of users." said Ravin Suri, Doclinx' Chief Technology Officer.
"TeraXML fulfills this need, providing innovative features
that allow today's knowledge worker to be more productive".
