Strategic
Alliance Gets Sequoia New XML Search Engine and Java Expertise;
Doclinx will Resell Sequoia's XML-Pure Portal Application, XPS(TM)
COLUMBIA,
Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 2000--Sequoia Software Corporation
(Nasdaq:SQSW), the leading provider of XML-pure portal software,
today announced it has entered into a three-pronged strategic alliance
with Doclinx, an industry leader in providing one-stop electronic
publishing and web solutions.
Sequoia
has licensed Doclinx's Docsan XML search engine, enhancing the search
performance of XPS(TM), Sequoia's XML-pure portal software. Doclinx
has become a value added reseller of XPS, and will expand the scope
of its consulting practice to focus on portal engagements. Sequoia
is also turning to Doclinx for Java consulting expertise as it ramps
up the development of XPS for Unix, based on Java 2 Enterprise Edition.
"We
wanted to partner with a winner, and were very pleased that Sequoia
opened the door on this alliance with their decision to adopt Docsan
as the new XML indexing and search engine for XPS," said Scott
Ober, president and CEO, Doclinx. "Like Sequoia, Doclinx
is committed to providing our customers with innovative, flexible
XML-based applications that help achieve real business results.
Our channel is primed for XML-pure portals, making XPS the ideal
application for Doclinx to sell and deliver."
The
Docsan XML search engine gives users the ability to conduct free
text and XML-based searches across data and documents in over 200
file formats. Sequoia selected Docsan over other better-known search
engines, because of its native support for XML and proven performance.
"The
Docsan search engine is exceptionally stable and delivers outstanding
performance, two characteristics Doclinx has proven in large-scale
implementations for global businesses like Sony, Hitachi, Texas
Instruments, and McGraw Hill," said Paul Martin, chief technology
officer, Sequoia Software. "With Docsan, XPS will generate
faster searches across the ever-growing indexes our customers are
compiling. This supports Sequoia's goal of providing our customers
with the most flexible, feature-rich and high performance portal
software available."
Doclinx
is opening a new east-coast office from which it will base its portal
practice. To jumpstart their VAR relationship, Sequoia is delivering
ongoing XPS training for Doclinx personnel, and is coordinating
a number of joint sales and marketing initiatives.
"Sequoia's
alliance with Doclinx is built on technical compatibility and
mutual respect for each partner's strengths," said Bryan Caporlette,
executive vice president, strategic technology, Sequoia Software.
"We are thrilled to work with Scott Ober and his associates,
and anticipate our relationship with Doclinx will help both organizations
achieve greater levels of success."
