Hitachi
Semiconductor (America) Inc. Commits Document Stream to Electronic
Publishing With Docsan From Sidana Systems, Inc.
MOUNTAIN
VIEW, CA (May 19, 1998). Sidana Systems, Inc. (SSI) announced today
that Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc. (HSA) will be publishing
its extensive semiconductor document library with SSI's Docsan(TM)
publishing product. Under the terms of the agreement, SSI will provide
document conversion and publishing services designed to match the
rapid rate of change in the semiconductor documentation HSA delivers
to its customers. The result will be a stream of CD-ROMs integrated
with Web-based information not previously possible with traditional
publishing tools.
At
the core of this process is the recently announced revision of SSI's
premier electronic publishing product, Docsan(TM) 3.0. The end-user
component of Docsan contains a powerful parametric search engine
that permits users to easily focus their searches with dozens of
content-specific criteria pre-defined by HSA. CD distributions will
also take advantage of Docsan's live update feature, which can automatically
update information on the CD with up-to-the-minute changes on the
HSA website.
"Docsan's
advanced search capability is especially well suited for our customers,"
commented Bob Tabone, Program Manager for HSA. "Engineers can
pinpoint the exact devices they want in a remarkably efficient and
easy-to-use manner, and we will now be able to keep our customers
current with complex technical information." Ashmeet Sidana,
President, Sidana Systems, Inc. added, "Rapid customer acceptance
of Docsan 3.0 underscores our technical success, and we are pleased
to see Hitachi commit a large quantity of time-critical information
to Docsan."
Docsan
is a Web-based document publishing system. It includes a powerful
search engine with an innovative architecture that merges the Web
and CDs into a comprehensive publishing platform. Docsan supports
publishing in any format supported by the Web, for example, HTML,
XML, SGML, or PDF from Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE ). The Docsan end-user
component is supported on any browser running Java from Sun Microsystems
(NASDAQ:SUNW), such as Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Internet Explorer
or Netscape (NASDAQ:NSCP) Communicator, and on many platforms, including
HP-UX from Hwlett-Packard (NYSE:HWP), Windows 95 and Windows NT
from Microsoft, and AIX from International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM).
