Sidana
Systems, Inc. Teams With Input Software, Inc. To Demonstrate Large-Scale
Publishing System at AIIM
ANAHEIM,
Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1998--Sidana Systems, Inc. (SSI)
joins with Input Software, Inc. to demonstrate a powerful end-to-end
solution for large-scale electronic publishing at the Association
for Information and Image Management (AIIM)conference, being held
here at the Anaheim Convention Center today through May 14. AIIM
attendees will see how a combination of InputAccel(R) from Input
Software and Docsan(TM) from SSI was able to handle the input, processing,
and electronic publishing of a daily flow of over 10,000 pages of
complex information for a large commercial publisher.
Input
Software's product, InputAccel, made it possible for the publisher
to capture electronically their daily mass of time-critical data
through a high-speed scanning process, resulting in Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE
) Acrobat PDF and graphics files. It then managed the workflow of
the captured data through various processing and image enhancement
stages and exported it to a relational database.
SSI's
product, Docsan, recently released in version 3.0, then was used
to collect and organize the data into a user-accessible format for
immediate publication on CD. The resulting product is a series of
fully searchable collections of information that customers receive
in a matter of days and can read on virtually any computer through
their Java-enabled browser. Users of the information, which is continuously
updated from a 100GB database, interact with the product not as
a set of static documents but more as a dynamic information stream.
``InputAccel
and Docsan are remarkably complementary,'' said Ravin Suri, Project
Manager, who directed SSI's involvement with the project. ``Unlike
traditional publishing solutions, the combination of InputAccel's
massive input and workflow capability with Docsan's superior search
and live update features made it possible to publish complex data
streams.''
Docsan
is a Web-based document publishing system. It includes a powerful
search engine with an innovative architecture that merges the Web
and CDs into a comprehensive publishing platform. The Docsan end-user
component is supported on any browser running Java from Sun Microsystems
(NASDAQ:SUNW), such as Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Internet Explorer
or Netscape (NASDAQ:NSCP) Communicator, and on many platforms, including
HP-UX from Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HWP), Windows 95 and Windows NT
from Microsoft, and AIX from International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM).
